The Town Council supports the "Encontro com o Cinema" Project, which has brought authentic pearls of independent productions to Madeira with a consistent and regular programming all over the years.
A selection of films from three major national film distributors of undeniable quality: Leopardo Filmes, Alambique Filmes and Midas Filmes, companies that represent and distribute in Portugal cinema, not only European but worldwide, of irrefutable artistic and cultural merit.
The Festival Aqui_Acolá reinforces the Cinema Cycle, bringing once again an independent film. This year, the focus is on animation in Portuguese, with a feature film from Brazil. In the 2019 edition, the film is part of the festival's school program.
Tito e os Pássaros
“Tito e os Pássaros” not only presents the look of an expressionist painting, but also makes its history something that gains strength from the image. Tito is a ten year old boy who lives with his mother.
The father, an inventor, left them after an accident with one of his machines. When an epidemic of fear strikes the world, Tito and his friends will try to figure out a way to save the mankind.
The film is directed by Gustavo Steinberg, Gabriel Bitar and André Catoto. This movie has a very particular feature, which embraces imperfections - as is clear in the design of its characters - and values the notion of cinema-painted. The end result is a astonishing visual experience, based on the Expressionist movement of the 20th century. The movie has no subtitles.
